About the role
Our client in Poole is currently recruiting an experienced Honer/Lapper. Pay: £17.00 – £18.00 per hour. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: - Set up and operate honing and lapping machines safely and efficiently. - Process components to specified dimensions, tolerances and surface finish requirements. - Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions. - Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, abrasives and machine settings. - Measure and inspect components using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, bore gauges/air gauges, Vernier calipers, dial indicators and surface finish measuring instruments. - Maintain accurate production and inspection records. - Identify and troubleshoot machining or quality issues. - Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning. - Ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality standards and production schedules. The ideal candidate will have good experience in a machine shop environment and a high level of attention to detail and final product quality.
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience operating honing, lapping or precision finishing equipment is essential.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of geometric tolerances and precision measurement techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team and collaboratively with quality, engineering and production teams.
- Understanding of, and adherence to, workplace health, safety and environmental requirements.
